ICDE Report
30th ICDE World Conference 2025 Proceedings
Proceedings from ICDE’s most recent World Conference held in Aotearoa New Zealand, and reflecting ICDE’s longstanding partnership with UNESCO

ICDE is pleased to acknowledge its strong partnership with UNESCO in advancing inclusive and lifelong learning globally. This collaboration was reflected at the 30th ICDE World Conference 2025 through the keynote presentation of Faryal Khan, whose work on digital transformation in education speaks directly to the conference’s focus on equitable and sustainable futures for learning.
This aligned closely with the theme of the conference, Ako: Exchanging ideas for inclusive, scalable, and sustainable education. Rooted in the Māori concept of reciprocal learning and teaching, ‘ako’ captures the spirit of shared knowledge and mutual exchange that shaped the conference.
Edited by Amanda Cossham, Bronte Carr, and Claire Goode, these proceedings bring together leading research in online, distance, and flexible education from around the world, offering readers a valuable overview of current thinking in the field.
