The ICDE Quality Committee gives advice and collects knowledge on the latest developments of quality work related to inclusive, scalable and sustainable education within their institutions and respective regions.

Want to know how best to utilise the tools you have or develop new methods? This year, our global board of Quality experts in the ICDE Quality Committee are open to help you!

The Committee can provide advice on the quality assurance and quality enhancement aspects on the following topics: 

  • Institutional engagement with regulatory bodies 
  • Institutional engagement with professional and statutory bodies 
  • New educational formats and credentialing including stackable learning and Micro-credentials 
  • Assessment and the impact of AI 
  • Continuous assessment 
  • Accessibility and inclusion 
  • Student well-being, belonging and community 
  • Students as partners in quality assurance and enhancement 
  • Displaced learners – online learning in times of conflict and wars 
  • Transnational education 

The Committee consists of seven Focal Points on Quality from all world regions. These experts have a leading and coordinating role for quality enhancement of open, flexible and distance learning within their institutions and regions.

Committee objectives

  • To provide updated knowledge on quality assurance and quality enhancement of various provisions of education and training across regions.  
  • To address perceived policy and regulatory gaps and support ICDE’s advocacy for policies promoting inclusive, scalable, and sustainable education.  
  • To tailor its support and updated knowledge to target members within higher and tertiary education. This includes universities, colleges, vocational schools, technical training institutions and professional schools, providing a range of academic and professional learning opportunities.   
  • To consider new formats within education and learning, such as stackable learning/micro credentials, aligned with the SDG 4 and particularly lifelong learning, and identify contemporary aspects relevant to target members.  
  • To contribute to the ICDE Global Arena with relevant knowledge products and services for quality assurance and quality enhancement within inclusive, scalable and sustainable education and training.   

    The mandate for the ICDE Quality Committee is aligned with the ICDE Strategic Plan 2025-2028 and the ICDE Activity Plan 2025-2026.
