The Tākina Accord: ICDE Education Policy Forum Report
The ICDE Education Policy Forum report highlights insights from over 250 education leaders and experts who gathered at the 2025 ICDE World Conference in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand.
ICDE held an Education Policy Forum (EPF) as a pre-conference activity as part of its 2025 World Conference, held in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand, from 10 to 13 November.
The purpose of the EPF was to discuss policy solutions promoting inclusive, scalable, and sustainable education in ways aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Edited by Giselle Byrnes (Provost, Massey University) and Mark Nichols (Executive Director Learning Design & Development, Open Polytechnic and ICDE President), this report overviews the presentations and participant feedback. It concludes with the Tākina Accord, as a summary of policy recommendations advocating for the extension of inclusive, scalable, and sustainable education in higher education – especially relevant for the Australasian and Pacific regions.
