ICDE expertise leading the way: Open call for institutional thematic leads 2027 – 2028

ICDE is inviting committed member institutions to express interest in appointment as a Thematic Lead in a new two-year sponsorship initiative. 

What is the Thematic Lead initiative? 

Selected ICDE member institutions will be appointed by the ICDE Board for an exclusive formal leading role within one of ICDE’s core thematic areas:  

  • Open Education 
  • Quality 
  • Innovative technology (including AI in education) 
  • Lifelong Learning 
  • Advocacy for inclusive education  

What does participation involve? 

  • Appointment of a Global ICDE Chair from the institution within the theme   
  • Recognition as an ICDE Institute of Excellence within the theme   
  • Enhanced visibility within the thematic area 
  • Involvement in a dedicated  annual ICDE Publication 
  • Substantial financial contribution from the institution as a sponsor  
  • Committment until end 2028 

Additional arrangements and the final scope will be clarified through bilateral discussions following this open call.

Interested members should register their interest by 7 June by completing the form below.

Bilateral meetings will take place with interested applicants by 26 June

ICDE invites interested members who are academic institutions to complete this application form by the 7 June deadline to signal their interest in becoming a Thematic Lead. This expression of interest is non‑binding and will be used to initiate exploratory conversations. Further details of what the lead role requires from the institution including the financial contribution, will be sent to eligible members once they apply.
